Multimedia installation combining scale models, a projected 3D animation, and a soundscape. A crane model holds the wreckage of an ambulance helicopter, its damaged rotor turning at an imperceptible pace, while wind turbines in the projected animation rotate at the same speed in mirrored direction.
The work constructs an environment examining the relationship between systemic order, technological failure, and the mechanisms of control that govern both.
The installation’s physical core is a crafted diorama depicting the aftermath of a disaster. A vehicle of rescue is now itself the subject of a recovery operation. This scene of contained catastrophe is activated by a single, subtle motion. The damaged main rotor turns at an extremely slow, almost imperceptible pace, creating a tension between the static finality of the crash and a residual, zombie-like mechanical persistence.
This scene of failure is juxtaposed with the projected animation, where a field of wind turbines operates continuously in an empty, ambiguous landscape. The turbines rotate at the exact same speed and in a mirrored direction to the slow-turning propeller of the wrecked helicopter. This direct mapping of movement synchronizes the singular, failed object with the larger, functioning system, suggesting that the catastrophe is not an anomaly but an inherent, spectral echo within the system’s own logic.
The sound design envelops the viewer, unifying the installation’s components into a single atmosphere. A continuous, industrial hum creates a sense of a pervasive technological environment, punctuated by a repeating warning signal.
